Beginning of the journey in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, a young town.We meet Christian Madriz, a chef who prepares dishes with very fresh fishes and vegetables from his own garden.Then we travel to the Osa peninsula: at a river we meet gold diggers and later a herbalist who shows us some medicinal herbs of the forest (turmeric): in the forest we can see some brown-throated sloths.Then we travel to the Corcovado National Park, an important primary forest with big trees, reptiles and many waterfalls.At the eastern coast of the Osa peninsula we meet Ngobe Indians: to enter in the village the visitor must be purified by smoke.The Chief of the family, Mariano knows about medicinal herbs and speaks about the importance of corn (beverage, tortillas).We return to Cartago whose cathedral has been destroyed by an earthquake and since 1924 they have a new cathedral dedicated to the Black Virgin.Then then travel to the Atlantic Coast: Puerto Limón and Puerto Viejo de R¿Talamanca; place of the calypso music (Jamaican people were working in the railway construction).Then in the forest we meet Bribri Indians who grow cocoa tree and banana trees and breed pigs.At the north we follow the Sarapiqui River: fields of pineapple (the second export product of Costa rica) and people doing rafting on the river: also wildlife (crocodiles and iguanas).We meet then Maleku Indians: a woman is decorating calabashes.At the Volcano Tenorio National park we can see several frogs.Then we visit coffee plantation at Naranjo and see the preparation of the coffee beans into roasted coffee.In the National park of Rincón de la Vieja and of Palo Verde we see many birds (roseate spoonbill).The volcano Rincón de la vieja is active and has many fumarole and hot springs.and the last stop at Playa Negra on the Pacific Coast, a precious place for surfing.
